Teaching Truth

  • God is in control of everything.

  • We can trust God no matter what happens.

Questions to Ask Your Child

  • How did God protect Joseph while he was in jail?

  • Did Joseph’s brothers deserve forgiveness?

  • Why does God forgive us for the wrong things we do?

  • Why is it important for us to forgive others?

Family Activity

Have your child choose eleven stuffed animals, dolls, or figurines to be Joseph’s eleven brothers.  Cover a tall cylinder, such as an oatmeal container or a Pringle’s can, so that it looks like a silo.  Have your child help you fill the silo with a fun snack, like Pirate’s Booty, just like Joseph stored the grain. Then have your child pretend to share the Pirate’s Booty with his stuffed animals, just like Joseph shared with his brothers.

Wrap-Up

With each lesson, help your child apply what they have learned by asking, “What do you think God wants us to learn from this story?” If you get stuck with finding the answer, refer to the weekly Teaching Truths.
