Memory Verse:
Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know. — Jeremiah 33:3

Scripture Reference

Daniel 6 (JSB p. 152-159)

Teaching Truth

  • God is our rescuer.

  • Only God should be worshipped.

Questions to Ask Your Child

  • Who did Daniel pray to and what was the punishment for people that didn’t pray to the king?

  • Why do you think Daniel prayed to God even when he knew he would be fed to lions?

  • How do you think Daniel felt when he was in the den with the lions?

  • Who protected Daniel?

Family Activity

Protect Daniel. Play this game with your child where he pretends to be the angel in the lion’s den that closes the lions’ mouths. Draw a simple face on a ping pong ball or a golf ball to represent Daniel. Use a Dixie cup to represent the lions’ den. Go outside on the patio or driveway and have your child place the cup on the ground upside down and place “Daniel” on top of the cup. Use a large ball to be the lion and roll the ball towards “Daniel”. Have your child protect Daniel by making sure the ball does not hit his “Daniel”.

Wrap-Up

With each lesson, help your child apply what they have learned by asking, “What do you think God wants us to learn from this story?” If you get stuck with finding the answer, refer to the weekly Teaching Truths.
