Preschool – Fiery Furnace

Memory Verse:
Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know. — Jeremiah 33:3

Scripture Reference

Daniel 3 (The Beginner’s Bible p. 247-250)

Teaching Truth

  • Only God should be worshipped.

Questions to Ask Your Child

  • What did Nebuchadnezzar tell everyone to do?

  • Why didn’t Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego bow down when the music played?

  • Who protected the men when they were thrown into the fiery furnace?

  • How did the king react to God protecting the men?

Family Activity

Help your child make a furnace mobile. Grab your supplies – a wire hanger, yarn, red, yellow & orange tissue or construction paper, and white construction paper. Help your child draw, color, and cut out Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and the angel. Attach a piece of yarn to each person and tie the other end to the hanger. Cut strips of tissue paper and tie those all around the people. On a square sheet of construction paper, write this verse “For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13. Attach this to the mobile so it hangs below the people and tissue paper.

Wrap-Up

With each lesson, help your child apply what they have learned by asking, “What do you think God wants us to learn from this story?” If you get stuck with finding the answer, refer to the weekly Teaching Truths.
