Elementary // Respect Week 4

Memory Verse:
“Respect everyone and love your Christian brothers and sisters. Fear God and respect the king.” 1 Peter 2:17

Definition

Respect: Honoring what God says is true about Himself, others, and me

Teaching Truth

I can honor what God says is true about myself

Questions to Ask Your Child

  1. Read Luke 19:1-10 How do you think Zacchaeus felt when Jesus called his name? How was Zacchaeus changed after spending time with Jesus?

  2. How would you describe yourself? Sometimes we think things about ourselves that are not true! Have you ever been tempted to believe a lie about yourself?

  3. How do you think God would describe you? You don’t have to guess! God’s Word is full of truth about how He sees the children that He loves.

Activity

As you are driving with your family, make it a game to see who can spot the most valuable object. Have everyone guess the value of the things they are spotting. After a few minutes of playing the game ask your kids what they think the most valuable thing in the whole world is. After they have answered, explain to them that it is actually US! People are the most valuable thing in the world! Read Luke 12:24 to them and explain that God has created us in His image and because of that we are more valuable than anything.
