Questions to Ask Your Child

  1. Read Luke 19:28-40. What did Jesus send His disciples to do in verses 30-31? (To go and find a donkey’s colt and bring it to Him.) Did they find what they were looking for just like Jesus said they would? Look at verse 32. (Yes!)

  2. Read Zechariah 9:9. What’s the same between this verse and the story in Luke? (A king is coming, riding on a donkey) How is the rider of the donkey described in verse 9? (King, righteous, victorious, humble) Can we describe Jesus like that? (Yes! He is that King!)

  3. What are some of your favorite things about God’s character? What do you think of when you think about God?

  4. There are lots of different ways to praise God! One great way is to pray God’s word back to Him. This helps when you don’t know what words to use. Take a verse like Psalm 103:8, and pray that to God together as a family. Now, you choose a verse to pray and praise God with!

Activity

Read Psalm 103 with your family. If you can, write or print it out on a piece of paper. As you read through it, circle all of the words that describe God or make a list. Are there any other words you’d include to describe God’s excellent character? Add those to your paper, too. Now take a look at all of the words you have that describe the goodness of God. Does this list impact the way you interact with others, spend your time, or help your thoughts? If so, how? If not, how could it? Write your own psalm of praise to God from the list you made, and read it at another family dinner later in the week.
