Definition

Contentment: Being satisfied with God.

Questions to Ask Your Child

  1. Read Matthew 6:19-34. What does Jesus say about real treasure? How can we find it?

  2. What do you think He means when He says to “seek first His kingdom?”

  3. What do you spend a majority of your time thinking about? What does this tell you about where your heart is?

  4. Is it easier to be content with what God’s given you if you have a lot or a little? Why?

Activity

When you’re at the dinner table, read Matthew 6:19-34 and discuss as a family. Where should we store up treasures and what do you think that means? (God considers treasure to be how we steward our lives, gifts, and resources to love and serve others, not the stuff we collect.) Do you believe that God will supply you with all that you need? Is there a difference between need and want? What are some things lying around, or stuck in storage closets, that your family could give away that would be helpful to someone else and remind you that “stuff” isn’t where life is found? Work together as a family to gather items to donate.
