The Meaning of Marriage

Culture is downstream from the family. So goes marriages, so goes families, so goes communities, so goes cultures. God has designed marriages to be a firm foundation that leads to flourishing. When we continually confess and repent of our sins, forgive, and celebrate one another, we are able to walk in the fulness of what marriage was meant to be.

Family Discussion Questions

  1. What is one of your favorite family memories? Or one of your favorite things we do together as a family?

Read Genesis 1:27-28

  1. Who made the first family? God! He made Adam and Eve and told them to have children and start a family. 

  2. Why did God create Families? To reflect God's character, to be and make followers of God, and to take care of and rule over the earth for God's glory.

Read Ephesians 5:25, 33, Ephesians 6:1-4, Proverbs 1:8

  1. What is the dad's special role in the family? To love his wife like Christ loved the church, and to raise his kids to follow Jesus. 

  2. What is a mom's special role in the family? To respect her husband and raise her kids to follow Jesus.

  3. What is a kid's special role in the family? To obey/honor their father and mother and learn from them.

  1. What was the main thing God taught you from the message? How does that impact the way to see God, yourself, and others?

  2. If you are married, how would you rate your marriage on a scale of 1-10? Why?

  3. Is there anything you need to confess to your spouse? Is there anything you need to celebrate about your spouse?

  4. What is one way to strengthen your marriage, family, and home this week?

  5. What is one way you plan to live of God's word this week?
