Questions to Ask Your Child

Read Luke 19:1-10

  1. Who was Zaccheus? What were some of the things about Zaccheus that he thought made him unworthy? Zaccheus was a tax collector. He was hated by his community, he stole money from them, he was shorter than everyone else, and couldn’t see in the crowd and had to climb a tree just to see Jesus.

  2. How did Jesus respond to Zaccheus? Jesus looked at Zaccheus and chose to be friends with him, Jesus loved Zaccheus and went to his house to be with him

Read Luke 19:10 again.

  1. Who are the kinds of people Jesus came to save? The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.

  2. Is there something that you believe makes you unworthy or unable to be loved by God?

  3. What is the only thing that makes us worthy to get eternal life with God forever? Jesus paying for our sins by his death on a cross, and his raising back to life three days later. If we believe that is true, then we can have a relationship with the God of the universe.

Read Matthew 28:19-20

  1. What is one of the most important good things we are called to do when we believe in Jesus Christ? Go and share the gospel with others.

Activity

Pray. Spend a special time in prayer this week as a family. Focus on being thankful for the blessings and fun experiences you had over the summer. Pray about the upcoming school year for each child. Include specific requests, needs, and areas to grow in the upcoming year in your prayers. Finish with prayers for friends and family that don’t know Jesus. Pray for opportunities to share Jesus’ love for them in the upcoming school year.
