Questions to Ask Your Child

Read 1 Samuel 24:1-12

  1. What did David have the chance to do? (He could kill Saul and become king of Israel.)

  2. Look at verse 6. How did David show integrity? Why? (He chose not to kill Saul but cut off a corner of Saul’s robe instead. He knew God chose Saul to be the king and David would not kill the man God had chosen.)

  3. What did David say to Saul? (He told Saul he didn’t want to hurt him and trusted that God would judge Saul for how he was treating David.)

Read 1 Samuel 26:7-12

  1. Do you think it may have been hard sometimes for him to trust God’s plan? Why?

  2. Once again, David had the chance to kill Saul and become the king. What did David do this time? (He spared his life again and took Saul’s spear and water jug.)

  3. Look at verse 9. How did David respond with integrity? (He reminded Abishai that it was God’s plan for Saul to be king so he would not kill him even if it would make his life easier. He trusted God’s perfect plan.)

Activity

This week buy a pumpkin to carve and walk through the Pumpkin Gospel as a family! Click here to find more instructions. Invite friends or neighbors and make it an opportunity to share the gospel with others. Use it as a reminder to be reminded that no matter how good we look on the outside, our inside is yucky because of sin (anything we think, say, or do that doesn’t please God) and that people of integrity are transformed from the inside out – something only God can do!
