About ‘1 timothy: the goal is love’

The Apostle Paul opens a letter to Timothy, a young leader of the church in Ephesus, by reminding Timothy that the goal of our instruction, the aim of our life, is doing what is eternally best for others, no matter the cost. There are some people in Ephesus who have missed that point. They are using their words and platform to make much of themselves, rather than loving God and loving others. Timothy is called to correct these people, and to point people back to making the main thing the main thing: the gospel.
