Martin Massinger
Technical Arts Director
I was born and raised in Dallas, and grew up in a loving, Christian home. Both of my grandfathers graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary and taught the Bible, so I grew up knowing who Christ was and how He’d sacrificed Himself for me. I accepted that truth in Sunday school when I was five or six years old, but it would be a long time before my heart followed. I lived for myself through most of high school, and thought it was normal to act one way at church, and another way everywhere else—similar to how we’d always dress up to go to church.
It wasn’t until I married my wife, Amy, and we had our son, Martin John, that I would start to understand what it meant to truly follow Jesus. In 1999, we jumped in with a church my parents helped plant here in Dallas, and that was the catalyst for real heart change. I stopped being passive and started becoming the man, husband, and leader God wanted me to be. I’m still very much a work in progress, though, and continually need the love, grace, patience, and sharpening of God’s people. Every. Stinking. Day.
Despite my remarkable shortcomings, I have the incredible privilege of serving as the Technical Director here at CityBridge. All that means is that I get to fix broken things and love people. Along with our son, Amy and I have two daughters, Gracie and Lucy, and we are thrilled God led us to be part of this body!
