Teaching Truth
Jesus was a boy who grew just like you and me.
Jesus is God’s Son.
Questions to Ask Your Child
Why did Mary, Joseph, and Jesus go to Jerusalem?
How many days was Jesus missing, and how do you think Mary and Joseph felt when they could not find Jesus?
Where did Mary and Joseph find Jesus?
What was Jesus doing when He was found in the temple?
Family Activity
Make a family quilt. Grab a couple of sheets of card stock and fold the sheets in half and half again, so you have four squares per sheet. Cut out the squares and use nine of the squares to make the quilt. If your child is able, let him punch a hole in each corner of the square with a hole punch, if not you can do it. Have your child draw eight pictures of favorite family events, such as a trip or just favorite activities you do together as a family like riding bikes. Tie the squares together using yarn. In the center of the quilt, attach a paper square which has the memory verse from Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Wrap-Up
With each lesson, help your child apply what they have learned by asking, “What do you think God wants us to learn from this story?” If you get stuck with finding the answer, refer to the weekly Teaching Truths.
