Elementary – Treasures Week 1

Memory Verse:
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. — Proverbs 2:1-5

Questions to Ask Your Child

Read Proverbs 2:1-12

  1. What are some of the ways that we see God caring for us? God gives us wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He is our shield, guards our path, and watches over us.

Read Hebrews 12:5-7

  1. Is discipline from the Lord a bad thing? No! God disciplines us because he loves us and wants what is best for us, even if it is hard sometimes.

  2. Kids and parents write down some of the discipline you have received from your parents, why do you think your parents did that for you? Share your answers with each other.

Read James 1:2-4

  1. Why can we count it joy when we face trials? We can find joy in our trials because we know that the testing of our faith produces steadfastness, and steadfastness will help us to be more and more perfected by God.

  2. Parents, share with your kids some of the trials you have faced in your own lives and how that has helped you grow in Christlikeness.
