Questions to Ask Your Child
Read Luke 10:38-40. Compare and contrast Mary and Martha? Who showed spiritual self-control and how?
Was Jesus upset with Martha? How did He respond to her gently?
What are some of the things Jesus gave up when He left heaven and came to earth? What does that tell you about how much God loves you?
How can you show spiritual self-control this week and choose God over the things of this world?
Does having spiritual self-control mean you can get out of doing chores and homework? Why not? (Being obedient to your parents and teachers is another way you can give up your own way and show self-control. We don’t say we’re going to spend time with God in order to get out of doing things we might not want to do but should.)
Activity
Share the good news! Write a letter to a loved one or family member sharing the good news of Christmas. Pray for them and send the letter.
