Elementary // Perseverance Week 1

Memory Verse:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” – HEBREWS 12:1 NIV

Definition

Perseverance: Not giving up, even when it is tough.

Teaching Truth

We can persevere when we trust God’s plan.

Questions to Ask Your Child

  1. Read Hebrews 11:8-16. How long did Abraham and Sarah persevere? How did God show He was trustworthy?

  2. What are some of God’s character traits that help remind you He can be trusted even when things get hard, or you have to wait a really long time?

  3. What is something God is helping you persevere through right now?

  4. What does God promise people who have accepted His gift of salvation? What is God’s ultimate plan for those who trust Him?

Activity

On your way to school this week, ask your kids how they are persevering through the end of the school year. Summer is close, and it’s easy to check out. Ask them how they can persevere and finish the school year strong. Here are some ideas! Encouraging friends in their classroom, serving their teacher, finishing their homework, praying for others.
