Questions to Ask Your Child
Read 1 Timothy 1:16 (NLT) Paul is the author of the letter. He spent many years not following God and actually being mean to and working against God’s people. But God was patient with him and chose to save him even after he rejected God for many years.
Why does Jesus use Paul as an example of his patience? So that others will realize that they too can believe in Jesus and receive eternal life.
How is God patient with us like he was with Paul? Even when we sin or turn away from God he still loves us and patiently waits for us to turn back to him and follow him.
How does knowing Jesus is patient with us help us be patient with others? We know that Jesus is patient with us because he loves us and being patient with us helps others to know him. So, we can be patient with others because we love other people, and because it will help them others to know Jesus.
Read 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) – Jesus is patient to come back to earth. If Jesus comes back right now then anyone that doesn’t know him won’t get to be with him in heaven. Jesus isn’t slow to return, he is being patient with people so that more people can be with him in heaven.
How does Jesus show that he is patient with others? By waiting for them to choose to follow him, even after he came to save them.
How does knowing that Jesus is patient with people help us be patient with others? We know that Jesus is patient because he loves other people, we want to follow Jesus's perfect example to love and be patient with others.
Is there someone you know who you have told about Jesus who you are still waiting and being patient with for them to believe in him? Pray for that person
Who is one person you can share the truth about Jesus with?
Activity
Make a list with your family of people with who you would like to come to know Jesus. This week get time together as a family each day to pray for the people on your list!
