My name is Grant MacQuilkan. I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and ended up at Oral Roberts University on a tennis scholarship where I met the two most important people in my life: Jesus and my wife, Carol! We got married the month I graduated and have lived in the Dallas area since 1985, with a short detour in Europe. Early in my first year at ORU, God showed me his goodness and grace through the new friends I met and I gave my life to following Christ. While I grew quickly in my walk with Jesus, consuming His Word and being discipled by men around me, there was still a lot of work to be done. Without Christ I would be a driven, self-centered, short-tempered, impatient workaholic who would feed his flesh on worldly success, comfort and sexual sin. Because of Jesus, those things now mark me less and less, and His grace has allowed me to enjoy a fulfilled life with a family that has been transformed as well by that very same grace! Even more, I now have a mission and a purpose that gives me more satisfaction and peace than I ever thought possible. Carol and I have four adult children (three are married) and three grandchildren. We love hanging with our kids and watching them parent – and time with our grandkids has been the sweetest gift to us! We thank God every day for the blessing of being able to watch our kids be fully devoted followers of Christ. Carol is an adventurer; I prefer a hammock. She loves the mountains; I like the beach. She is patient, full of mercy and kindness…I am working on it. We enjoyed starting the Plano campus of CityBridge with some long-time friends – an adventure, lots of highs and a lot of opportunity for God to continue transforming us. We enjoy taking teams on short-term discipleship trips – we love us some Uganda and Haiti!
I spend much of my weekdays helping other business owners buy or sell their business while also managing a small portfolio of businesses. When not at the office or with family, I am most likely watching real football (my brain says Arsenal but my heart says Everton) or spending time with our CityBridge extended family.
